A | British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace wants a major hike in armed forces spending in response to the conflict in Ukraine.,The BBC reported that Wallace will call on Chancellor of the exchequer Rishi Sunak to raise defense spending from around two per cent of GDP — the NATO target figure — to 2.5 percent.,The minister is expected to make comments to that effect when he addresses the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) Land Warfare Conference in Westminster later on Tuesday, before flying to Madrid for the NATO summit there.,"The defense secretary is expected to emphasize that now that the threat has changed, governments must be prepared to invest to keep us safe," said a defense source quoted by Sky News.,"We do not comment on alleged leaks," another defense source insisted, adding: "The defense secretary and the prime minister have always said that the government will respond to any changes in threat, which is why in 2020 the Ministry of Defence received a record defense settlement.",Britain has sent a battalion-sized force of soldiers to Estonia in a bid to confront Russia, while supplying Ukraine with thousands of man-portable anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, over 120 armored vehicles and three M270 multiple-launch rocket artillery systems.,Wallace claimed earlier in June that Western military aid was helping the Ukrainian military make "significant progress" in the east of the country against Russian and Donbass forces. But recent days saw the capture of the city of Severodonetsk and a string of smaller settlements in Lugansk, with up to 8,000 Ukrainian troops now trapped in Lisichansk.,British Chief of General Staff General Sir Patrick Sanders told the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) conference on Tuesday morning that the crisis in Ukraine was "our 1937 moment" — a possible reference to then-prime minister Neville Chamberlain's simultaneous policy of appeasing towards Nazi Germany while re-arming Britain.,Sanders said his focus was on "mobilizing the army to meet the new threat we face", insisting: "The British Army is not mobilizing to provoke war, it is mobilizing to prevent war.",NATO Could Expand Eastern European Battlegroups to Brigade or Division-Size Forces: Report26 June, 15:49 GMT,The general called the scale of the conflict in Ukraine "unprecedented.","In all my years in uniform I haven't known such a clear threat to the principals of sovereignty and democracy and the freedom to live without fear of violence as the brutal aggression of President Putin and his expansionist ambitions," Sanders said.,"This is our 1937 moment," he added. "We are not at war but must act rapidly so that we aren't drawn into one through a failure to contain territorial expansion… I will do everything in my power to ensure that the British Army plays its part in averting war."。

B | Actor Rachit Singh made his theatrical debut this year with Maddock Horror Comedy Universe's Thamma. The Aditya Sarpotdar directorial film starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in key roles. This was not the only milestone he achieved this year. Singh, who also worked as an acting coach for a decade, saw one of his students Shanaya Kapoor debut in the industry and another student, Aneet Padda, deliver one of the biggest blockbusters this year. And it was, indeed, a proud moment for the acting guru. Talking of Aneet's success, the actor said, "It was one of those moments when you feel so happy for the other person that you just wish them all the love and luck. It was a proud moment because I was a small part of that journey. I have seen her grow and evolve and give the biggest blockbuster of the year. It is best when you are happy for somebody." The actor came to Mumbai in 2013 but left because he couldn't figure out which career direction to choose. But he came back again in 2016 with a determination to make a mark. "This time I decided I have to learn how to act. But I did not have any financial stability so to earn money, I started assisting Mr. Atul Mongia and worked as a workshop assistant. I learnt by watching people act in those workshops and I was also ended up learning how to give workshops. I then started conducting my own workshops under his company and eventually, I opened my own brand called Rachit Singh Workshop. It took me five more years to establish that and I was also giving auditions simultaneously. Then I got a show called Karma Calling, which was my first break and then Maddock happened." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rachit Singh (@rachitsingh08) In Thamma, Rachit played Veeran, a loyal devotee of the Betaal sect who worshipped Thama Yakshasan, portrayed by Siddiqui. His association with Maddock Films goes back to even before Thamma, and an interaction with Amar Kaushik led to him being cast in the film. "My first job with Maddock was as an acting coach and I was working in Munjya. I met Aditya and Amar and that's how the association began. Around Diwali last year, I met Amar sir and we got into a conversation about the projects I was working on. But after a few days, he called me to tell me about Thamma and said that he wanted me to play a role in it." Singh's first day on set felt like a dream come true, with everything he had imagined about films and filmmaking coming alive right in front of him. "My first day on set was quite exciting because I was waiting to do my first film. But we were shooting in the interiors of Delhi and it was chaotic. There were too many people in the narrow lanes when we were shooting for a chase scene and the crew was keeping the crowd away and helping us shoot. It was beautiful to see how much goes into making a film. That experience made me realise a lot about filmmaking, cinema and what goes behind the camera. But the first day on set it very special because you are seeing everything you have thought and imagined for so many years coming alive in front of you," the actor said. Rachit also shared that it was a heartfelt moment for his when a lot of the aspiring actors he trained, reached out to him after his performance in Thamma. The actor will reportedly be seen in Baby Do Die Do. Also Read: Thamma Director Reveals Shraddha Kapoor Was Considered to Play a Part in Munjya。
